Problems:

1. Facebook

2. They’re probably both 15 and just being 15 year olds

Interesting dimensional question: Is a 2JzGTE+V160 longer than an MR-S is wide?

Psh, I’m sure it’ll fit. Just chop out the side of the car. Hey, that would make timing belt maintenance a piece of cake!

I know it’s horribly stupid, but if you moved the battery and used a Volvo trans along with minor dicking of the shock towers, you could probably make it work. Would it be worth the effort? Fuck no, that’s why you do it.

31 inches for the engine, apparently, smallest MR2 is 65.6 inches wide. So it might almost work?

You’re right that is youtube, at first glance I thought it was facebook, the one place that the comment section is worse than facebook.

Apparently it’s nearly 10" less (~31"+25.6" vs. 66.7"). Which still makes it implausible - you’d be best off with a Volvo I6 transversemission.

Why wouldn’t you want a 2JZ MR-S?

I found the answer! The engine+transmission combo is roughly 54 inches long, while the track width of the car is 58 or so. In other words, you just need two 2-inch long CV joints and you’re good to go!

Yeah, this is the JDM bro equivalent of “I want to put a V8 with nitrous on my hand-me-down Olds 88”

65.6 is what I found for the outer dimensions too...I just used the track width to see if the engine would actually fit in the bay. I saw 28 inches for the engine, but that was for a shortblock so 31 makes sense for the engine fully dressed.

I would rather have a northstar Fiero

This reminds of some of the shitposts I see on oppo, only to see those OPs eventually post “I got my license!/mommy and daddy bought me a car!/I’m going to college!” and then everything makes sense.

I googled around wondering if anyone had actually tried it and as far as I can see, even everyone in the forums pretty much agrees that it’s not worth the time, effort, or extensive body mod required.

sounds a lot like my crazy ideas...my current idea is an ls2 with a Porsche g50...in the back of a last gen colorado...shortbed/reg cab.

From what I know, it’s a decent engine that’s relatively solid, and has crazy aftermarket support, but as with any engine, getting seriously big power costs a lot, and for something like a MRS, it’s way, way more effort than it’s really worth

(Still a pretty great engine though, it just gets a lot of hype from people who don’t know what they’re really on about, because supra)

I’d rather have a 3800SC Fiero, but that doesn’t make a 2JZ MR-S any less awesome.

I want to put a northstar in the back of something small. It’s perverse enough to be interesting

I looked up the entire 50 comment long thread on YouTube, and there’s some serious gold in there. The guy just resorts to name calling and dissmisses anyone who says it couldn't be done. He also admits to being 15 (no surprise there) - though I can't talk too much smack about that type of thing, since I'm only a few years older than him, but I try to keep dumb ideas to myself

People don’t realize that doing the impossible is impossible. Unless you’re a pro engine swappin’ badass, it involves spending a lot of money.

Wanting to do it means literally nothing.
